real-life experiences show sour lemons turning into sweet delights. It is a
testament to how life changes for the better when faith allows God to comfort,
heal, and love His daughters.
Excerpt
As an only child with a single parent, I knew the odds
were against me. I knew that not having a father in the house or my life had
marked me to be unsuccessful. However, I was determined to be successful. I
wasn't going to fail and that is where pride found the open door.
Pride is a very dangerous thing. It can hinder you in
asking for help. It can conjure up truths that you didn't know existed within
you. It can have you make decisions that aren't completely thought through.
Pride displays a person that is contrary to who you believe yourself to be.
Pride had set up camp in my life, and I didn't know it until what I thought was
too late.

What
advice can you give first time Authors?
So, you say you love to write. You say you want to write a book.
Unfortunately, you have no idea what to do or where to beginning. Fortunately, I have a bit of advice. My advice is to write, publish, and promote.
First, I say write. Find a place to write, tap into your soul for
inspiration, and start writing. Write
what you know. Write what you love. Writing is personal. Be truth and honest In your writing. Don’t try to be anyone besides yourself.
Next, you are not an author until you
publish! You can take the traditional
route which is a tad bit difficult to accomplish. However, you can self-publish
or can go through a hybrid publishing company.
Not matter the option you choose, just make sure your choose to
publish. Within this process, you want
your manuscript to be edited. You want
to copyright your manuscript. You also want to get an ISBN. My main advice for this portion is to hire
someone that will assist you. There is a
lot to do during this time and you don’t want anything to slip or be forgotten.
Then, you want to promote your book. Social media is used for a lot of different
things. This time, use it to benefit
you. Give information about the book to
everyone you know, and don’t know. Use
all social media platforms as a marketing tool.
Contact your local television and radio stations for interviews. Sign up for a virtual book tour. Most importantly, do a public book signing to
launch your book.
Finally, one more thing that I offer that is
an extra piece of advice. Celebrate!
Rejoice and enjoy your accomplishment.
Have fun. You just completed a
major undertaking that most only speak about.
After everything is said and done, go out. Call some friends and bask in
the moment.
I enjoyed the excerpt. Sounds like a good read!
