  I ran down the hall into the bathroom, trying not to let them see how upset I really was. It was indeed a set up! An ambush! "Not again," I thought as the tears ran down my face and into the basin. I turned the water on high so that the sounds of my sobs could be shielded.

Why would she do this? Why would they gather together against me? I was the First Lady, Evangelist, Teacher, Prophetess, and prominent leader in this ministry.  

They all came against me. Methodically, one by one. There it was again, hurt, rearing its ugly head. Why do I keep experiencing hurt from the people of God that are supposed to love one another? So, after gathering myself together, I was hoping they would be gone. I was in the bathroom for at least 10 minutes or more. When I unlocked the door and looked out, they were all still there. Shame hit me right then. Did I really deserve this treatment? I was not ready for another confrontation. I walked towards the one who had said previously, leading women was what she was called to do. And it was her who set up the meeting for all the ladies in the church that day. I was speechless! She stated, "We needed to get this taken care of." So, I went to sit back down in the meeting room. There, I cried some more.

After hearing all these complaints, I suddenly realized that every complaint was about me! This incident happened so many years ago, but it was indeed a classroom for me to grow my leadership skills. So sometimes, as leaders, we make the mistake of ruling by titles instead of my leadership skills and knowledge, which I was doing.

Carol attempted to get up. However, she stumbled a few steps and then fell forward toward Bill. Instead of helping her, he backed away and watched her fall. Finally, when she hit the floor, he yelled, "Trick, get up!"

Carol's bloody nose dripped down onto her lips, her vision was blurred in one eye, and the other eye was swollen shut. She was mercilessly battered and weak. She couldn't muster up the strength to stand even with help!

Bill realized Carol needed to go to the hospital, and the thought of showing any remorse or concern for her angered him even more. So, Bill lugged Carol into his car like a bag of trash and spewed obscenities at her the entire 15-minute drive. "Trick, stop bleeding all over my seats. I knew I shoulda left you!"

When they arrived at the hospital, Bill didn't escort Carol inside. Instead, with the same violent demeanor, he hatefully threw her out of his car! Carol stumbled inside, trying not to fall, but her strength betrayed her. Her pregnant and battered body fell to the ground while bystanders looked at her in shock and disgust… After what seemed like an unending couple of minutes, the hospital staff assisted Carol and rushed to the maternity ward.

Why did I, an innocent child, have to enter life through such a treacherous path that seemingly led to a dead-end… broke - IN - this… my life. WHY?

The memoir ''The Many Facets of A. Starr: Purifying Truth'' was a natural, powerful, and remarkable story that will keep one turning the pages. This story was well-written and told by this author will draw one into the situation that shows such heart-wrenching tragedies of her life that featured all the good and evil.  

The reader will get a little bit of it all from the poignant memoir of the woman & events that helped shape her life'' making her who she is today.    

Be ready for "This memoir to take one through a whirlwind of emotions from the beginning till the end." However, to get all this author delivers to the reader, one will have to pick up this good read," The Many Facets of A. Starr," to see how it will come out...especially that exciting ending.
