Excerpt:

"No one wants to be called crazy! It's insulting, condescending, and cruel. Before the age of 25, I hadn't questioned my mental health. I never thought my sanity would be something I had to fight for!

However, my father was admitted into a mental health facility when I was 15.

The topic itself is touchy, and I still don't fully understand what happened to my father at the onset of his illness.

In the winter of 1993, my mom left a note on the kitchen counter stating that my dad was going to the hospital. He was at a psychiatric hospital for a few weeks. Family members came down and visited him.

Daddy was heavily medicated, and the experience was very confusing. My mom held up the best she could and encouraged my sisters and me to see him. She'd gently remind us to tell him we loved him. But, I could tell mom struggled to articulate and accept dad's mental breakdown."

"Far From Crazy...Success In Sanity...My Unashed Truth" by Jessica Johnson Glover

My Sentiments:
"Far From Crazy...Success in Sanity: My Unashamed Truth" was a good read for anyone suffering from a mental illness. This author,
Jessica Johnson Glover takes us through her story, which starts with her father having this illness, and her mother was there to help care for him. However, no one knew the daughter was suffering from this disease also. When it seemed like everything was going right...things started happening that caused her to lose her first boyfriend. It was definite that Jessica needed some help, but would she be willing to want it? Definitely some kind of therapy was required. She married a wonderful guy, and things looked up until they tried for pregnancy, which was against her medication. In other words, she had to stop her medication, which threw her back into a mental illness situation of being hospitalized several times and finding the proper medication. Jessica didn't want to be around her husband at this time, so she stayed with her parents for a while. And for some strange reason, she didn't want to take her medication. But one Sunday, Jessica wanted to attend church with her husband.
It wasn't until God came through for her giving her a particular verse as she was finally preparing to attend church with her husband Glover, from John 10:10...'The thief cometh not, but they may steal, and kill, and destroy, I came that they may have life and may have it abundantly.'  Reading this very verse snapped her mind in the right direction for the time and gave her sanity. No, she wasn't crazy... just needed help from God and the correct medication and therapy. As the title said...'Far From Crazy...Success in Sanity...My Unashamed Truth' says it all about this beautiful story. I don't want to tell too much of it because I want you to pick up this story and see how God will bring one through it all after all is said and done.

"Jessica believes that by taking the correct medication as prescribed and practicing a balanced lifestyle, those battling mental illness can experience true freedom and live a life that's far from crazy," as it has done for her.
