                     About The Book

Crushed by heartache and desperate for an escape, he makes a life-changing choice.
When Chandler Peynard staggered into Sabrina Benjamin’s life, he was desperate for an escape route. Battling feelings of isolation, he erects barriers around his heart, often times leaving a trail of broken dreams behind him.
Sabrina’s happily-ever-after was ripped away months ago, but she hadn’t given up on finding love. Still, she was caught off guard by her feelings for Chandler, a man who could hardly be described as a model man of God. As an unexpected bond develops between them, she wants more – A lot more than Chandler is prepared to give, because falling in love and putting down roots are not a part of his plan.
Touched by Sabrina’s kindness and faith, Chandler makes a life-changing choice. However, complication is inevitable when the past he’d long thought was buried, pushes him to confront matters he would have given anything to forget. As he struggles to release himself from his past and embrace the future, he offers Sabrina a place in his heart, but she demands all of it.
In a season that brought so many changes, Chandler longs for peace in his soul and yearns for love. Will he trust God with all of his heart to overcome his past? Will he be able to testify that God’s grace wins every time? Will he find the strength to take a chance at life and love with Sabrina?

ANN MARIE BRYAN
Character Interview

Q. Please tell the readers who are the main characters?

“A Place For My Heart” is the highly anticipated third installment in the Encounters of the Heart series.  The main characters are Chandler Peynard and Sabrina Benjamin.

QWhat or is there conflict in the story?

Conflict is inevitable when two people who can’t stay away from each other, refuses to acknowledge that they are in love.  “A Place For My Heart” is an emotionally gripping account of the unexpected bond between Chandler Peynard and Sabrina Benjamin. In a season that brought so many changes in their lives, they must find the strength to take a chance at life and love.

Q. Which characters in the book are you most like?

I am most like Sabrina Benjamin. She loves the Lord and she is about living her life to the fullest in Jesus Christ. While she is not afraid to love, she knows that boundaries need to be established in a relationship. She is not afraid to speak her mind in a tactful way.

Q. Take us inside “your book” What are two major events taking place?

The Proposal – Eventually, Sabrina agreed to be in an exclusive relationship with Chandler. He wined and dined her and she was captivated by his love. However, nothing prepared her for his stunning proposal. All she could say was “Yes. Yes.” She said yes twice because once didn’t seem enough.

True Identity – Drama unfolded when Sabrina found out Chandler’s true identity. No words can aptly describe my feelings as I wrote that chapter. Yes, tears flowed.

Q. Are your characters from the portrayal of real people?

No, they are not.

Q. Describe each character in three words?

The main characters in “A Place For My Heart” have distinct personalities.

Ø  Chandler Peynard - Creative, Kind & Passionate
Ø  Sabrina Benjamin - Honest, Compassionate & Likeable
Ø  Connie Harper - Intuitive, Charitable & Energetic
Ø  Amber Shaffer - Bold, Strong-willed & Spontaneous
Ø  Jenay Pullier - Loyal, Sensible & Realistic
Ø  Anthony Jackson - Resourceful, Sincere & Optimistic
Q. If your book became a movie who would play the characters?

The main characters in “A Place For My Heart” would be played by the following people:

Ø  Shemar Moore (Chandler Peynard)
Ø  Sharon Leal (Sabrina Benjamin)
Ø  Lynn Toler (Connie Harper)
Ø  Gabrielle Union (Amber Shaffer)
Ø  Zoe Saldana (Jenay Pullier)
Ø  Denzel Washington (Pastor Anthony Jackson)

Q.  Your lead characters have “baggage” that keeps them from wanting to pursue a new relationship. Do you think sometimes we let our past get in the way of what God has planned for our futures?

Yes. When we don’t deal with past issues they become giants in our lives. The true is, we cannot change the past, but we can learn from it and reach for the life that God has planned for us.
The biblical account of the life of Joseph is an excellent example of how to face our past. The story which begins in Genesis 37, shows us how to be courageous in the midst of adversities and overcome our past situations.
Hated by his brothers, Joseph was sold into slavery by them. After that, he was wrongfully accused and cast into prison. Oh, that would have caused anyone to be resentful. But Joseph maintained his integrity, held his peace, and even had the courage to shine. He chose a perspective that empowered him. He did so, simply because he knew his future was in the Lord’s hands.
Like Joseph, we must find the courage to use our past as a stepping stone and shine for God. No matter how tough the situation, God will work it out for our good. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8: 28 (KJV). Above all, "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:" Philippians 1:6 (KJV).
Q. How do you see yourself in your character’s story, if at all?

I understand Sabrina Benjamin’s story. Her happily-ever-after was ripped away, but she hadn’t given up on finding love. Still, she was caught off guard by her feelings for Chandler, a man who could hardly be described as a model man of God. Sabrina learned to place her confidence in God because He will keep His promises. Further, she learned that, “… the Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)

In the case of Chandler, falling in love and putting down roots were not a part of his plan. However, it was a part of God’s plan for his life. I have learned that, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)
