Guest Post: Turning tragedy into triumph

Hello, I’m James Ruvalcaba the Author of The Light Through the Pouring Rain and I’m here today to speak on turning tragedy into triumph. To give a bit of background to my book I detail the trials and tribulations of enduring a cancer diagnosis. I go into detail about how my Fiance Anabel and I  dealt with it and keep our eyes to the sky and used our faith in God to make it to the end. Unfortunately, my fiancee, Anabel didn’t make it and she passed away, so now I tell our story on my own with hopes to carry on her legacy and be a testimony of God’s goodness. So today I bring to you how I turned tragedy into triumph.

In our lives, we go through unfair and unjust situations that are beyond our control. We can’t seem to understand why this would happen to us often leaving us with more questions than answers. I’m here to tell you that there are no right or wrong ways to handle your tragedies and their no timeline to heal and recover from your pains. There really isn’t a blueprint to how to conduct yourself after such an experience and no matter what you’ve gone through you would be justified to conduct yourself in a type of way. You justify having difficulties keeping your eyes to the sky, and you justified to want to stay at home and hide from the world. But I’m here to tell you that every day you make the conscious decision to put ten toes down on the ground and put one foot in front of another you tell your difficulties and pain that you’re not going to defeat me today! Seems simple right? but it really isn’t and most decide to stay in and let the pain and trauma defeat the person day on in. But when you get up and put one foot in front of another you are turning tragedy into triumph. You are declaring that on this day you will not let the pain you experience get you down on this day.

It took me a long two years to overcome that battle with the loss of my fiance Anabel and I could still justify myself being in pain and display the scars that were left on me, but I had to put my foot down and say “enough is enough.” I had to remember why would I stay depressed when all she did was bring me happiness. I couldn’t let her death go by the wayside, so I decided to turn our tragedy into triumph and tell our story with the hopes to be able to touch and inspire others in their own personal journeys cancer or not. Now today our story is told via the book I wrote the Light Through the Pouring Rain!. Put one foot in front of the other and turn your tragedies into triumph one day at a time.
